Privacy Policy

Trilinguo is a reading app. It is built to need as little of your data as possible: your library, notes, and vocabulary live on your device, there are no accounts, and we do not run ads, analytics, or trackers.

The short version. We do not collect personal information, we have no user accounts, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising. The only data that leaves your device is the passage or word text you are reading, which is sent to our translation service purely to translate it for you.

Information stored on your device

The app keeps the following on your device only, so it survives between sessions. It is not transmitted to us:

Books you have added or imported, and their downloaded translations.
Your reading position in each book.
Highlights and margin notes you create.
Words you save to your vocabulary.
Your settings, including your chosen languages.

This data is removed when you delete the app. We never receive it.

Information sent for translation

To show a passage in another language, the app sends the text being translated to our translation service. This is:

the text of the passage on screen,
a word you tap to look up, and
for books you import yourself, the text of those passages when you read them.

This text is used only to produce the translation and to cache the result so the same text never has to be translated twice. Translations are stored in a shared cache keyed by a fingerprint (hash) of the text itself — not linked to you, your device, or any account. We do not attach names, identifiers, email addresses, or location to this text.

Third-party processing. When a passage has not been translated before, our server sends that text to Anthropic’s Claude API, which returns the translation. Anthropic processes the text to generate the translation on our behalf. See Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy. No other third party receives your data.

What we do not collect

No accounts, names, email addresses, or passwords.
No advertising identifiers, and no advertising.
No analytics or usage tracking, and no third-party tracking SDKs.
No location data.
No contacts, photos, or files beyond the book text you choose to open.

How the text is protected

All communication between the app and our servers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). The translation cache stores only the source text and its translations, keyed by a content fingerprint, with no user or device identifiers.

Children

Trilinguo is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we do not collect personal information from anyone, the app requires no parental consent to use.

Your choices

Because your library, notes, and vocabulary are stored only on your device, you can remove all of that data at any time by deleting the app. To request information about the cached translation text, contact us at contact@screenops.ai.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the app’s store listings.
