Read in two or three languages at once.
Learn languages by reading classic books with parallel translations. English sits on top, your practice languages right beneath it, a few sentences at a time.
The launch shelf
40 classics, ready to read.
Read Dickens, Carroll, Stevenson, Dostoevsky and more with prepared translations in ten practice languages. Another 66 titles are marked coming soon.
How it works
A classic book becomes language practice.
No flashcards, no drills, no streaks to lose. Just a book you actually want to finish.
Choose a book
Pick an available classic from the catalog. Each book is divided into short passages, with English and prepared translations kept together.
Read it stacked
The original on top, your practice language beneath it, and an optional third below that. One passage per page, nothing else on screen.
Keep the words
Tap any word to see it in both languages and save it to your vocabulary. Highlight and jot margin notes as you go.

Before you begin
Questions about Trilinguo.
What is bilingual or parallel-text reading?
It means reading the same passage in two languages so you can compare its meaning. Trilinguo stacks a short English passage above a translation, with an optional second translation for three-language reading.
Which languages can I practice?
The reading source is English. Choose Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Macedonian, Japanese or Chinese as your practice language, and optionally add another. These are prepared translations of the English source, including for books originally written in another language.
Is Trilinguo free to try?
Yes. You can try five reading pages without an account. After signing in, the free plan includes 40 new reading pages per calendar month. Trilinguo+ is a paid subscription for unlimited reading. A reading page fits passages to your screen, so it differs from a printed book page.
Can I upload a PDF or EPUB?
Personal book uploads are currently unavailable. Choose from the available classics in the Trilinguo catalog; titles marked coming soon cannot yet be opened.
Can I use Trilinguo on my phone and computer?
Yes. Trilinguo is available for iPhone, iPad, Android and the web. Sign in to synchronize your library, reading positions, saved vocabulary and annotations between devices.
Is Trilinguo a language course?
Trilinguo is a reading app for language practice. It lets you compare passages, look up words and keep vocabulary and notes. It does not include a lesson curriculum, narration or speaking assessment. The translations are prepared with machine assistance and can contain mistakes.
